Week 40 (Year 6): Sowing Seeds for a New Growing Season…

So it’s cold outside but not cold enough to stop me planning for the growing season of 2020. Some new seedlings have been planted and hopefully will grow in the relative warmth of the lean-to Greenhouse by the house, before they’re big enough to be moved onto the Allotment Plot.

So what produce is planned for this year? Well some crops have done well in previous years, so of course, It’s good to do them again, as well as a few new ones:

New Potatoes: These are chitting in the Greenhouse as it’s still too early to plant them out. Indeed, it’s good practice to have them grow some side shoots before they go in the ground (in holes of manure) so will have to see what happens to these two new varieties:

Main Crop Royal Potatoes by McCain

And:

Albert Bartlett Rooster Main Crop Potatoes

Albert Bartlett Rooster Main Crop Potatoes

And a new Seed that I’m trying for the first time: Zucchino (Custard White) which looks really interesting:

As well as more regular crops:

Black Beauty Aubergine

Emir Melons & Galine Aubergines

And Marvel Peas:

And although it’s quite early: I’ve sown some Mange Tout:

And a little Late for Broadbeans:  (Aquadulce Claudia) so will have to see what grows well this year!
