Another cold week, so my focus has been on sowing some seeds, ready for the Growing Season. They will be kept in the small lean-to Greenhouse by the House, and I have switched on the heating and the light in there, so they should sprout soon. I seem to have acquired lots of Tomato seeds so they have gone into pots (or little greenhouses which were previous plant holders) so having seen several postings of quite well-established plants, it seemed the right time to get them into soil and growing…
The four varieties sown (so far) include:
Kings Seeds: Black Opal & Tigerella
Franchi Seeds: Pomodoro Principe Borghese and Costoluto di Parma
Some flowers for the Allotment
And the flowers sown for the allotment include Marigolds (African Crackerjack Mixed by Mr Fothergills) and Cosmos (Purity: which was a free packet of seeds with Gardeners World Magazine).
These Potatoes are progressing well with new dark roots forming (on Sharpe Express, Homeguard and Red Duke of York).
My Onions and Garlic need transplanting to the Allotment as they have roots coming through the bottom of the plastic trays.
Still doing well and I spent some time making paper pots (for more seed sowing) as I need to get my Peas going and found last year, that planting them in paper pots allowed for easy transportation to my plot without disturbing them too much.
And if we have warmer weather, I shall head down the plot to start weeding, clearing and preparing for the Growing Season.
Spring Bedding plants have just been delivered by the postman, so I will have to get some more trays prepared for the Plug Plants (only 640 to plant!) and a delivery of more potatoes (Main Crop) so more to be done, before I head down my Allotment!
