Year 2 Week 8: Rogation Sunday and crop growth….

It’s that time of year again, Rogation Sunday already!

Rogation down the allotments.

Traditionally, an Anglican festival taking place on the Sunday before Ascension Day where the local Priests come down to our Huts and bless the crops and our produce. It is a well attended event at Fulham Palace Meadows Allotment site with support from All Saints Church, located just by Putney Bridge and within the grounds of the former Fulham Palace. For a change, after the singing of hymns and the blessings, Afternoon Tea is shared at the Vicarage but this year we didn’t attend as there’s so much to keep going with on the allotment.

And they do literally sprinkle holy water over some of the plots.

Planting Beetroot and Radish.

Planting Salad leaves, Pak Choi and Rainbow Swiss Chard.

New plantings of quick summery crops (beeroot, radish and pak choi leaves /salad leaves).

Harvesting Purple Sprouting.

Transferred Black Beans from the greenhouse to the plot with bottles for protection.

Updated Plan of the Plot.
