Week 42: The beginning of a new calendar year with Annual Rent Due at the Allotments…

And a Happy New Year to you.

As per the notices: annual rents are due and must be paid in person with proof of address.

As it is the beginning of another calendar year, it is also the time for annual rents to be paid. At Fulham Palace Meadows Allotments, there are two opportunities to pay this, over the first two weekends of the year.

The queue to pay annual rents at the Allotment.

Whilst, there were plenty of volunteers assisting the process, it wasn’t perhaps the most efficient use of my time, waiting 40 minutes to enter the Tea Hut, to show your membership card, two proofs of your local address and my payment. In return, I received a new membership card for 2015, my rental contract and the rules/ regulations for the Allotments. At £35 for a full plot for a full year, I think it is value for money. Especially, if you consider how much produce you can grow and enjoy from the plot. (Produce compilation)

Carrots are largely finished and the fennel was damaged by the Frosts but still some more Leeks to enjoy.

But undercover, the Savoy Cabbage is doing rather well.

Undercover I have Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Kale and Cauliflower growing well.
