Another busy week of tending to my plot. With the relatively good stable sunny weather we’re having, interspersed with some seriously wet days, the weeds are back! Given it is still early-on with my allotment (only Week 13), it is not surprising that digging over the plot, small weed roots have sprung and started to grow, but as weeds sprout, so are my crops. Really pleased to move more fruit over to the plot (Blueberries: one two-year old plant and two small new plants), and my small seedlings (Black Beauty Courgettes) which were grown from seeds. Another ten sweetcorn plants, grown from seed (Ovation F1 Hybrid) are ready for transferring so they were moved next to the Sundance plants in a block formation in the front bed. Next to them, the planted Sunflowers’s leaves are being nibbled as are the Dahlia shoots so I have resorted to slug pellets. My beer trap doesn’t seem to be attracting many slugs but I guess they’re liking my crops too much already!
